ELIGIBLE RELATIVES –

Orphaned Relatives:

• You can sponsor orphaned siblings, nephews, nieces, or grandchildren if they meet specific conditions.
• They must be under 18 years old, unmarried, and both of their parents must have passed away.
• Additionally, they must be related to you by blood or adoption.
• However, you cannot sponsor them if one of their parents is alive, if their parents' whereabouts are unknown, if their parents abandoned them, or if someone other than their parents is caring for them while one or both parents are alive.

Other Relatives:

• You may sponsor other relatives, such as aunts, uncles, or cousins, under certain circumstances.
• This sponsorship option is available if you have no living relatives in Canada whom you could sponsor instead, such as a spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner, child, sibling, parent, grandparent, orphaned sibling, orphaned nephew or niece, or orphaned grandchild.
• Additionally, you must not have any relatives, including aunts, uncles, or cousins, who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or registered Indians under the Indian Act.

If the relative you want to sponsor has a spouse, partner, or dependent children who will come with them to Canada, they must be included on the same sponsorship application.

Eligibility Criteria:
Sponsor (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident):

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or registered Indian under the Canadian Indian Act.
• Must meet the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) requirement.
• Must provide proof of the genuine family relationship with the sponsored relative.

Principal Applicant (Other Relative):

• Must have a genuine family relationship with the sponsor.
• Must undergo medical examinations and criminal background checks.
• Must not be inadmissible to Canada for reasons such as criminality, security, or health concerns.
